Anthony Deland: I am a primitive arts and crafts or bushcraft teacher and practitioner with many years of experience in the field. I have a Master of Arts in Art Teaching and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer (Kenya, 2005-2007). While I was in Kenya I began to learn many of the skills I have, and was privileged to be part of building a traditional mud brick and cob home. This experience informed the rest of my life, and I have been extremely interested in traditional and primitive skills ever since. I have now amassed a formidable set of skills and I am passionate about sharing these skills with others. With every new skill I learn, from traditional bow making to basket weaving, I find that I develop a deeper understanding of ingenuity, problem solving and connection to the natural world and history around me. My experience as an Art teacher helps me to simplify these skills and make them accessible to people who may not have any experience with them.
